Career Program Description

Students in the Automotive Technology program will learn how to perform repairs to all vehicle systems, provide automotive diagnosis, and handle general maintenance. The program focuses on the latest techniques and diagnostic procedures the industry uses. Students will get hands on experience working on vehicles that belong to people within the community, as well as donated vehicles. The Automotive Technology course at Essex Tech has the most up-to-date equipment such as engine analyzers, scan tools, wheel alignment systems, wheel balancers, as well as hand-held testers. Students within the program will prepare for and take the ASE student certification and the the Federal HVAC license.

  • AYES program – This intense program is a partnership between auto manufacturers, North Shore Tech and repair shops. It includes a structured summer internship for students between their junior and senior years. Students who are eligible can work cooperatively at a sponsoring shop during the school day and have a jumpstart on their career.
