Essex Technical High School admits students from our 17 member communities to our 24 career technical, animal science, and agricultural programs. Member communities include Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Lynnfield, Manchester by the Sea, Marblehead, Middleton, Nahant, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Swampscott, Topsfield, and Wenham. Students from across the commonwealth of Massachusetts are also eligible to apply for admission to our eight (8) animal science and agricultural programs (see page 3 of the application for a full listing of programs).

Important Admissions Dates:

Grade 8 Counselor Admissions Orientation October 20, 2016
Annual Open House for Prospective Students & Families November 19, 2016
Applications Due First Friday in February
First Round of Acceptance Notifications for Grade 9 Mailed April 15-20 (anticipated)

Application Process

All students applying for admission Essex Technical High School must complete the Essex Technical High School Application for Admission and adhere to our admissions policy (see below).

NOTE: “Non-resident” students applying for admission to the eight (8) animal science and agricultural programs are NOT required to complete a Chapter 74 Non-Resident Tuition application in addition to their Essex Technical High School application (See: Specialized Agricultural and Natural Resources Programs Nonresident Student Enrollment Advisory, MA DESE below).

Applications for School Year 2016-17 are due Friday, February 5, 2016.   The application for the 2016-2017 School Year is now available for download below, or paper copies are available from your local school Guidance Counselor. All applications must be complete in order to process the application.

Steps For Applying: 

  • Parent/Student: Please complete pages 1, 3, and 4 of the application
  • Have your child give his/her application to his/her Guidance Counselor
  • Your child’s Guidance Counselor will complete the application by enclosing all required documents:
    • Grades for the current school year (through Term 2) and previous school year;
    • Attendance records for the current school year (through Term 2) and previous school year;
    • Discipline/Conduct records for the current school year (through Term 2) and previous school year;
    • Guidance Recommendation on page 2 on the application.

Your child’s Guidance Counselor will forward the completed application directly to Essex Technical High School for processing. No application will be processed if all required documents are not enclosed in the application.
