Admissions

Essex Technical High School admits students from our 17 member communities to our career technical, animal science, and agricultural programs. Member communities include Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Lynnfield, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Middleton, Nahant, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Swampscott, Topsfield, and Wenham.  Students from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are also eligible to apply for admission to Essex Technical High School’s animal science, agricultural, and natural resource programs (See: Specialized Agricultural and Natural Resources Programs Nonresident Student Enrollment Advisory, MA DESE below).

Small Group Tours

Small Group Tours will be held December 14, 19, 21 from 3:00-4:00. These tours are by appointment only, please sign up by contacting admissions at (978) 304-4705.

 

Application Process

All students applying for admission to Essex Technical High School must complete the Essex Technical High School Admission Application and adhere to our Admissions Policy (see below). NOTE: “Non-resident” students applying for admission to the eight (8) animal science and agricultural programs are NOT required to complete a Chapter 74 Non-Resident Tuition application in addition to their Essex Technical High School application (See: Specialized Agricultural and Natural Resources Programs Nonresident Student Enrollment Advisory, MA DESE below).

Important Admissions Dates:

Applications Due (Class of 2022/Grade 9) Friday, January 12, 2018
First Round of Acceptance Notifications for Class of 2022/Grade 9 Mailed April 15-20, 2018 (anticipated)
Transfer Applications Due (Class of 2021, 2020, 2019) April 15, 2018*
Transfer Acceptance Notifications (Class of 2021, 2020, 2019)
Please note: In addition to Admission Policy standards,  acceptance to Grades 10-12 is limited to availability in CTE programs.
August 1, 2018 (anticipated)*

Steps For Applying: 

  • Parent/Student: Please complete an admissions application The electronic application for Fall 2018 admissions will be available after October 1, 2017. You may download a paper application below. Complete pages 1, 2, 3, and then sign page 4 of this application;
  • Your child’s Guidance Counselor will forward application documents directly to Essex Technical High School for processing:
    • Grades for the current school year (through Trimester/Semester 1) and previous school year;
    • Attendance records for the current school year (from September through January) and previous school year;
    • Discipline/Conduct records for the current school year (from September through January) and previous school year;
    • Guidance Recommendation Rating on the application.
